Pac-Man Championship Edition

It's Xbox Live Arcade Wednesday time again. This week we have an evolved version of Pac-Man weighing in at 49.56MB which will set you back 800 Microsoft Points. This edition offers up new mazes which dynamically change during gameplay, a number of different timed modes and enhanced graphics.

The trial version allows you to play "Championship Mode", normally limited to five minutes but for the demo capped to three minutes. The classic gameplay is unmistakable and is still here in abundance as you try and gobble as many pellets and fruit as possible, avoiding the ghosts "Blinky", "Pinky", "Inky" and "Clyde" and eating the occasional power pill. The graphics are pleasant and what you'd expect from an evolution of the game with some nice touches but nothing so overstated as to distract you from the game.

As it's an Xbox Live Arcade game the obligatory leaderboards are available for each mode and there are 12 achievements on offer totalling 200 gamerscore points. If you're a fan of Pac-Man then I'm sure you'll appreciate this update.

I had fun with the demo, but even with 6 game modes $10 is too much for this.
